Kalunga Extended is a place of encounter, exchange and co-creation between black artists and their diasporic experiences. It is a meeting point for an interdisciplinary perspective: the performance meets rituals approaches and avant-garde; linking social themes such as cultural background, identity and decolonial artistic practices.
Is part of the trilogy of Kalunga pieces which explores the meanings of the word Kalunga in the Bakongo Cosmogram (Dikenga). Kalunga is a word from the Bantu languages (an ethno-linguistic group located mainly in sub-Saharan Africa) which means the sea, as well as the burial grounds.
